Every night I drive my truck along the runway, a job I stumbled upon one day,

The clock is always ticking at night, but my destination is out of sight, as I drive, on the night line

Every bend in the darkness is a mystery, and only a sense of danger can save my way,
And often the runway is slippery, as I drive, on the night line

With weary eyes, I see the sleeping town and the beam of light cuts through the night landscape,
But when summer arrives, the nights are bright, and I sing on the night line

It's not the distance but the speed that thrills me, the old wisdom offers no help,
If the line is late, it's the driver's fault, and I only drive on the night line

I don't believe the stories, but they often comfort me, when the image of your mist appears on your windshield,
And nothing could warm me more, than when I'm dragging on the night line

If I fall asleep for a moment and the speed is full, it's the end of the road for one more soul,
So the hard night ends, but the long, long night continues, as I drive again, on the night line
