Von oben bis unten nur schwarzer Lack.
Er blendet auf, dann zieht er vorbei
Und mir wird ganz kalt das ist Zauberei.
Am steuer da sitzt ne blasse Gestalt.
Halb Geißt halb Mensch und viel zu alt.
Ich hab den Kerl schon früher mal gesehen,
Doch er ist längst tot das soll einer verstehen!
In Würzburg da fahr ich zum tanken raus.
Will nach Süden will endlich nach Haus.
Der Tankwart sagt:"Was ne scheußliche Nacht
Die hat schon so manchen ins Grab gebracht".

Vor zwanzig Jahren an diesem Unglückstag,

Ein gelber Vw der brachte ihn in Not,

Sie fuhren zum Grab. Kein Weg war zu weit.
Dann jagten alle den Kerl im Vw,
Doch der war längst weg wurd' niemehr gesehen.

Im Graben da liegt er der gelbe Vw.
Der Fahrer ist tot, das kann ich noch sehen.
Und in der Ferne, das könnte ich schwören,
Kann ich das Lachen meines Freundes hören.

Friday the 13th, just after 10 p.m.
The rain is so heavy, I can hardly see.
On the radio, "Big John" is playing.
And I'm almost alone on the highway.
Only behind me, a heavy truck roars.
Black paint from top to bottom.
He flashes his lights, then passes me
And I get cold all over, it's like magic.
At the wheel, a pale figure sits.
Half ghost, half human, and much too old.
I've seen that guy before,
But he's long dead, how can that be?
In Würzburg, I stop to refuel.
I want to go south, I want to go home.
The gas station attendant says, "What a horrible night
It's brought many to their graves."

Twenty years ago, on this unlucky day,
My friend died in a black truck.
A yellow VW caused his troubles,
He drove off the bridge to his death.
A hundred truckers saw him off.
They drove to his grave. No road was too far.
Then they all hunted down the guy in the VW,
But he was long gone, never to be seen again.

One more exit and I'll have made it.
But then suddenly, blue lights! The police!
And then I have to pass by a bad accident.
