Nirvana

Not much chance, completely cut loose from purpose,
He was a young man riding a bus through North Carolina on the way to somewhere.
And it began to snow.

And the bus stopped at a little cafe in the hills and the passengers entered.
And he sat at the counter with the others, and he ordered, the food arrived.
And the meal was particularly good, and the coffee.

The waitress was unlike the women he had known.
She was unaffected, and there was a natural humor which came from her.
And the fry cook said crazy things and the dishwasher in back laughed a good clean pleasant laugh.

And the young man watched the snow through the window.
And he wanted to stay in that cafe forever.
The curious feeling swam through him that everything was beautiful there and it would always stay beautiful there.

And then the bus driver told the passengers that it was time to board.
And the young man thought "I'll just stay here, I'll just stay here"
And then he rose and he followed the others into the bus.
He found his seat and looked at the cafe through the window and then the bus moved off, down a curve, downward, out of the hills.

And the young man looked straight forward.
And he heard the other passengers speaking of other things,
Or they were reading or trying to sleep.
And they hadn't noticed the magic.
And the young man put his head to one side, closed his eyes, and pretended to sleep.

There was nothing else to do, just to listen to the sound of the engine, and the sound of the tires, in the snow.

Nirvana

Pas beaucoup de chance, complètement détaché de tout but,
Il était un jeune homme qui prenait un bus à travers la Caroline du Nord en route vers quelque part.
Et il a commencé à neiger.

Et le bus s'est arrêté dans un petit café dans les collines et les passagers sont entrés.

La serveuse était différente des femmes qu'il avait connues.
Elle était naturelle, et il y avait une humeur naturelle qui émanait d'elle.
Et le cuisinier a dit des choses folles et le laveur de vaisselle à l'arrière a ri d'un bon rire propre et agréable.

Et le jeune homme a regardé la neige à travers la fenêtre.
Et il voulait rester dans ce café pour toujours.
Le sentiment curieux l'a envahi que tout était beau là-bas et que ça resterait toujours beau là-bas.

Et puis le chauffeur de bus a dit aux passagers qu'il était temps de monter à bord.
Et le jeune homme a pensé "Je vais juste rester ici, je vais juste rester ici"
Et puis il s'est levé et a suivi les autres dans le bus.
Il a trouvé son siège et a regardé le café à travers la fenêtre, puis le bus est parti, dans une courbe, vers le bas, hors des collines.

Et le jeune homme a regardé droit devant lui.
Et il a entendu les autres passagers parler d'autres choses,
Ou ils lisaient ou essayaient de dormir.
Et ils n'avaient pas remarqué la magie.
Et le jeune homme a penché la tête sur le côté, fermé les yeux et a fait semblant de dormir.

Il n'y avait rien d'autre à faire, que d'écouter le bruit du moteur, et le bruit des pneus, dans la neige.
