C'était à Vannes, l'an passé au mois de mai,
Aloïda de l'I.U.T. revenait,
Petite maure, cheveux de jais sur le dos,
Jean et sweat-shirt, sur le pont de Kerino.
S'en viennent à moto ses trois frères
Et leurs yeux sont comme couteaux,
Ils l'encerclent, elle a peur aussitôt.
-Hier on t'as vu main dans main d'un étudiant,
C'est déshonneur pour une Maure de vingt ans,
Grand déshonneur pour tes frères et tes parents.
-C'est, leur dit elle, liberté d'aimer pourtant.
Des trois frères l'aîné aussitôt,
Lui attache les mains dans le dos
Et la jette derrière sa moto.
-Frères! mes frères! vous me brisez les os.
-Maudite sur! nous en finiront bientôt.
-Frères! mes frères! vous déchirez ma peau.
-Maudite sur! tu gagnes ce que tu vaux.
Dans un entrepôt, il la traînent
Et la saignent de leurs couteaux,
Et l'enterrent au fond du dépôt.
Tombe sur Vannes grêle de caillots de sang.
Aloïda, ton ami vient en courant,
Chercher refuge par hasard dans l'entrepôt,
Voit dans l'entrée tes chaussures et ton manteau.
-Gendarmes qui dormez, accourez!
Morte mon amie est enterrée,
Et de la terre dépasse ses pieds.
Sitôt s'en viennent capitaine et brigadiers
Dans l'entrepôt, pour la Maure déterrer
Mais là d'entendre sous la terre ses sanglots:
Aloïda sortie s'éveille sitôt.
Entre ses seins, reposant,
Elle avait son petit enfant,
Lui souriant souriant à la vie.
Le jour suivant, sur la route de Lorient,
On retrouva les trois frères tout trois gisants,
Le plus âgé au fond d'un étang noyé
Et le plus jeune sous sa moto écrasé,
Le troisième brûlé, foudroyé,
Et ses cendres égarées par le vent,
Tous trois gisants, tout près de Landévant.
C'était à Vannes, le jour de la saint Brendan,
Aloïda, jeune Maure de vingt ans;
Le lendemain, sur la route de Lorient
On retrouva ses frères tous trois gisants.

It was in Vannes, last year in the month of May,
Aloïda from the I.U.T. was coming back,
A little moor, with jet-black hair on her back,
Jeans and a sweatshirt, on the Kerino bridge.
Here come her three brothers on a motorcycle
And their eyes are like knives,
They surround her, she's afraid right away.
-"Yesterday we saw you hand in hand with a student,
That's a dishonour for a twenty-year-old moor,
Great dishonour for your brothers and your parents."
-"It's, she tells them, the freedom to love, though."
Of the three brothers, the eldest immediately,
Ties her hands behind her back
And throws her behind his motorcycle.
-"Brothers! my brothers! you're breaking my bones."
-"Accursed one! we'll finish you off soon."
-"Brothers! my brothers! you're tearing my skin."
-"Accursed one! you get what you deserve."
In a warehouse, they drag her
And bleed her with their knives,
And bury her at the back of the depot.
Hail falls on Vannes like clots of blood.
Aloïda, your friend comes running,
Seeking refuge by chance in the warehouse,
Sees your shoes and your coat in the doorway.
-"Gendarmes who sleep, come running!
My friend is dead and buried,
And her feet are sticking out of the earth."
Immediately the captain and the brigadiers come
Into the warehouse, to dig up the Moor
But there they hear her sobs underground:
Aloïda awakens, come out immediately.
Between her breasts, resting,
She had her little child,
Smiling to her, smiling at life.
The next day, on the road to Lorient,
The three brothers were found, all three lying dead,
The oldest drowned at the bottom of a pond
And the youngest crushed under his motorcycle,
The third burned, struck by lightning,
And his ashes scattered by the wind,
All three lying near Landévant.
It was in Vannes, on the day of St. Brendan,
Aloïda, a young Moor of twenty years;
The next day, on the road to Lorient
Her brothers were found, all three lying dead.
