Sie sind doch noch da,

Where are the old trees
Of my childhood days?
Where are the sweet dreams,
Are they already so far away?
Where forests once rustled,
Now stands a sea of houses.
Where we listened to the springs,
City traffic roars.
Where are the beautiful words,
That were never kept?
Back when we found each other,
The world was still in bloom.
Where once the gorse bush
Showed yellow blossoms,
Now lies in smog and black smoke
Our dawn.
Far beyond our gratitude
Happiness still exists.
Far from the noise of the highways
There's distant blooming.
They're gone, you must seek them,
But they're still there,
Pine, oak, and beech,
Just not so close anymore.
Where are the old trees
Of my childhood?
