Ray Charles und Jerry Lee Lewis
Bewunderte ich so.
Später ging ich von der Schule
Und spielte mit der Band
Rock'n′Roll und Soul und Folksongs,
Jeweils nach dem neu'sten Trend.
An jede Plattenfirma
Schickte ich mein Tonband ein,
Jedesmal die große Hoffnung ...
Doch die Antwort: Nein!
Musik, Musik! Von meinem Leben...
Alle aus der Band von damals
Suchten Jobs und stiegen um,
Doch ich schreib' noch immer Lieder,
Manchmal frag′ ich mich warum.
Um zu leben, bin ich abends
Pianist in einer Bar,
Und ich weiß′genau
Aus mir wird nie ein großer Star.

I admired them so much.
Later I left school
And played with the band,
Rock'n'roll, soul, and folk songs,
Always following the latest trend.

I sent my demo tape,
With great hope every time...
But the answer: No!

Everyone from the band back then
Looked for jobs and changed,
But I am still writing songs,
Sometimes I wonder why.

I am a pianist in a bar,
