There's only 50 people here and it's a sold out show

"The schedule says you need to be done by 8: 30"

"No one cares about the band in the opening spot"

The club owner and the show promoter don't know we exist
So we're never on the flyers or the marquees
It's so quiet when we play, I hear people drop their car keys

But most just wish that we were through

Dans un club près de chez vous avec le groupe que vous aimez
En fait, c'est votre groupe préféré, vous êtes un super fan
Qui ne raterait ça pour rien au monde, alors vous avez pensé à un plan
Vous avez acheté vos billets à l'avance, vous êtes partis de chez vous à l'heure
Vous avez roulé 45 minutes, puis vous avez fait la queue
Et quand vous êtes enfin entrés et que vous vous êtes dirigés vers la scène
Vous avez été très déçus quand on a commencé à jouer
On est la première partie, essayez d'être patients
On a écrit des chansons et on a répété dans notre sous-sol
Ce n'est pas juste un concert, c'est un endroit pour être vu
Et une chance d'être entendu, voyez-vous, on poursuit un rêve

Et un laissez-passer pour les coulisses et un peu d'argent pour l'essence
Le régisseur demande : "Vous êtes prêts à y aller ?"
Il n'y a que 50 personnes et c'est complet
On ne peut pas attendre que le club soit plein ? "Non, vous devez vous dépêcher"
"Le programme dit que vous devez avoir fini à 20h30"
20h30, pourquoi si tôt, il y a la queue autour du pâté de maisons ?
"Tout le monde se fiche du groupe de la première partie"
On est la première partie, on n'a pas de tubes
Le propriétaire du club et le promoteur du spectacle ne savent même pas qu'on existe
Alors on n'est jamais sur les flyers ou les affiches
C'est tellement silencieux quand on joue, j'entends les gens lâcher leurs clés de voiture
Quelques personnes bougent, quelques personnes huent
Mais la plupart souhaitent juste qu'on en ait fini
Alors le plus grand applaudissement qu'on reçoit, c'est quand je dis : "Voici la dernière chanson"
Parce qu'ils savent que la tête d'affiche est sur le point d'arriver

On continuera à travailler dur et on n'arrêtera jamais d'y croire
