Baile gaúcho num rancho de chão batido
E uma cordeona atravessa a madrugada

Em frente ao rancho tem uma figueira grande
Que empresta a sombra para os causos no terreiro
Onde mateio tranquilo nos fins de tarde
Fazendo planos enquanto fecho um palheiro

A gauchada na fuzarca domingueira
Forma carreira lá no fundo do potreiro
Cavalo e homem na moldura da paisagem

Where I Live

Where I live is a blessed little corner,
And nature bears the very hand of God.
My people wear smiles upon their faces,
And one person illuminates my path.

Early in the morning, the symphony of birds
Awakens the bush with their early song.
The creatures that wake up alongside me
Are my friends in this rustic life.

In the stable, there's a team of oxen,
A strong pair pulling steady on the yoke.
Strength and plow turning the good earth,
Furrows and hills where abundance can be seen.

On weekends, the neighbors gather
For good stories, a game of bones, and a lively dance.
A gaucho ball in a ranch with a beaten floor,
And an accordion that plays through the night.

In front of the ranch, there's a large fig tree
That lends its shade for stories in the yard.
Where I sip mate peacefully in the late afternoons,
Making plans as I close a hay bale.

The gauchos in the Sunday bustle
Form a line at the back of the pasture.
Horse and man in the landscape's frame,
A living portrait of my Rio Grande, the land of cowboys.

For those who arrive at the corner where I live,
Don't use luxury, nor bring bad intentions.
Bring a hug and a very sincere smile,
That's all it takes for me to extend my hand.
