Waz ist wunders hie geschehen!
Daz ein magt ein kint gebar,
Hêre über áller engel schar,
Wáz daz niht ein wunder gar?

The Song of the Holy Land

First I longed to go there,
Since my sinful eye beheld
This blessed land, and all the earth,
Where so much honour is conferred.
What I always begged has come to pass:
I've come to this place,
Where God walked among men.

Fair land, rich and noble,
Though I've seen much else,
You surpass them all in glory.
What wonders have happened here!
A maiden bore a child,
Lord of all the host of angels,
Isn't that a wonder indeed?
