As the day winds down
The cicada gets prepared to sing its last song
A final goodbye to the world around it

Not to return again for another 7 years

All I know is for now
I hear the beautiful swelling of the bug populated choir
And I feel everything will be alright

And rest assured to those who are eager for the cicadas return

No love, regardless of how brief it may be, is a waste of time
The wait for the next may feel like an eternity
But just know everything will be alright
