Der Fall ist klar: Der Geist will Rache
Doch dem armen Hamlet ist nicht wohl bei der Sache
Er windet sich und zögert. Der sitzt in der Patsche.
Deshalb tut er so, als hätt er einen an der Klatsche.
Dieser Plan hat vor allem diesen einen Sinn:
Hamlet will ganz einfach etwas Zeit gewinn'n.
Bald schon tappen Freund und Feind in seine Falle:
Der ganze Hof sagt: "Hamlet hat sie nicht mehr alle!"

Und hofft, dass er das Ding mit Hamlet heute endlich wippt.
Die Sache wird jetzt dramatisch aufgebauscht:
Hamlet und Laertes ham die Degen vertauscht.
Bald sind beide verletzt und dem Tod geweiht.
Hamlet sagt Laertes, dass er ihm verzeiht.

Hamlet sieht die Mutter tot zu Boden sinken,
Und zwingt seinen Onkel, selbst das Gift zu trinken.
Das war nun wirklich kein besonders fröhliches Fest.

While his evil uncle commits his devilish sin:
He poisons Hamlet's father – wicked, yet cunning –
And takes Hamlet's mother, the Queen, as his own wife, winning.
Hamlet returns home – the whole land is weeping.
Rumors whisper of a ghost at the court, silently creeping.
The ghost is Hamlet's father, saying, "I must speak to you,
Your uncle murdered me. Hey, can you avenge me, it's true?"
The case is clear: The ghost seeks vengeance,
But poor Hamlet feels uneasy about this sentence.
He hesitates and stalls, caught in a bind,
So he acts as if he's lost his mind.
This plan has one main purpose you see,
Hamlet simply wants to buy some time, you and me.
Soon, both friend and foe fall into his snare,
The whole court whispers, "Hamlet's lost it, we swear!"

Hamlet and Laertes switch swords, to their surprise.
Soon both are wounded and doomed to die,
Hamlet tells Laertes that he forgives him, goodbye.

Fatally, the Queen now reaches for the cup,
And drinks. The King turns pale and thinks, "What the

And forces his uncle to drink the poison, that's for sure.
This was certainly not a joyous feast,
Almost everyone is dead. And silence is the beast.
