When I, which admittedly doesn't happen often
Had a hangover the day before
And wanted to sleep in, well that doesn't work
Because old Pingitzer in the stairwell
Yells after her husband that he has forgotten his breakfast fork
The voice of that one wakes a bear out of its winter sleep
Then she rings my bell and asks
Whether she can make a phone call, and then she talks to her sister
For hours about what happened at the doctor's yesterday

At lunchtime her lazy son Alois comes over
For dinner, and throughout the stairwell
It stinks of onions because she's cooking goulash again
The old man comes home and tells us about the pub
And then lazy Alois says that his pants have gotten too tight
To which the old man, "Well, then don't eat so much!"
But she, Pingitzer, tells him to his face
That he was just as gluttonous when he was a boy –
The Pingitzers are a lovely couple!

In the evening, when they watch TV, and they do that every day
There's still no peace!
He, Pingitzer, sits in the living room with his dim son
And they argue about which program they want to watch
Alois wants to watch the detective show, for example
The old man wants to watch sports because today Rapid is playing against Benfica
And because he's a Rapid supporter
The old woman washes the dishes in the kitchen and yells:
“Oh man, don't be such an idiot!” –
The Pingitzers are such a lovely couple!
