流れ寄る 椰子の実一つ
故郷の岸を離れて

汝はそも 波に幾月

旧の樹は 生いや茂れる
枝はなお 影をやなせる
われもまた 渚を枕

実をとりて 胸にあつれば
新たなり 流離の憂い
海の日の 沈むを見れば
激り落つ 異郷の涙

思いやる 八重の汐々
いずれの日にか 国に帰らん

A Coconut

From a distant island, unknown to me,
A coconut floats ashore, all alone.
Far from its native shore,

How many months have you spent adrift at sea?

Your parent tree still thrives,
Its branches still provide shade.
I too pillow my head on the shore,
A lonely traveler, adrift like you.

When I hold you to my chest,
My heart fills with a new sadness.
As I watch the sun sink into the sea,
Tears of longing fall for my distant home.

I gaze out at the vast ocean waves,
Wondering when I will return to my homeland.
