Car la robe dansait
Sans la demoiselle
Et sans le monsieur
Quel était ce mystère?
Demoiselle, que fais-tu?
Mais ce qu'elle a pu faire
Les moineaux l'ont bien vu

Et l'amour se disait:

A Dress Waltzed

In a wood light and small in a village,
A sprite was bored this day
But the wind brushed away the leaves,
And the little sprite peered through.

A dress came whirling,
By the edge of spring,
It's ribbons flew
And ruffles too.
It spun with the wind,
Like a whirlwind so fresh,
The dress dragged around
Rays of sun in it's mesh,
And butterflies,
And the month of May.

As it skipped along,
A young man with a large heart
Saw a young lady
Within it's art.
At this sight,
He offered his arm,
To the dress,
And a compliment so warm.

The sun peaked out,
But the two preferred the dark,
Into the woods they disappeared,
And soon after,

A dress came whirling,
By the edge of spring,
It's ribbons were loose,
And the rest disheveled,
How, we don't know,

The sparrows said,
It's really quite odd.
For the dress danced,
Without the young miss,
Or the man,
What a mystery it was.
Miss, what do you do?
But what she did,
The sparrows saw it all.

A dress came whirling,
Rumpled by love.
And love said,
Dresses are made to waltz one day.
