借风吹向白云层
我劳你做一个送信人
将那首无言诗
一句句念给我的心上人

问白云 好景那里求
千山你飘零 万水你曾游
为什么傍徨 为什么留

ask the clouds how much sorrow you bear
ask the clouds how much worry you possess
old sorrows linger while new grudges weigh on the mind
one cluster sinks low as another floats high

ask the clouds how deep you are
ask the clouds how many layers you have
my homeland is nowhere to be seen, my confidant sings of separation
you obscure the joy and conceal the resentment

i follow after, asking again and again
the infatuated clouds remain silently unresponsive
using blank paper to write a wordless poem
each stroke and line traces a tear

i borrow the wind to carry it up to the clouds
i ask you to become a messenger
deliver that wordless poem
recite it word for word to the person in my heart

ask the clouds where joy can be found
ask the clouds where good fortune can be sought
you have drifted over a thousand mountains, swum through ten thousand rivers
why do you wander aimlessly, why do you linger?
