Vrteli se tockovi mog bicikla.

Smakla se o stepenik njena stikla.
Nekad su pogledi bili cista hemija.
Dobro je pocela nedelja,
Poslednje pripreme za maturu.
Virili smo u daljine puni nade.
Preko gimnazijskog bedema,
K'o pravi dekor za avanturu
Prosuo je nezni purpur divlji badem.
Poneli nas vetrovi k'o maslacke.
Jedni su leteli lako, drugi padali.
I curice su postale prve macke
A losi djaci odjednom svetom vladali.
Sve mi je odlicno zvucalo.
Dobro sam stajao tih sezona.
Ljuljale me oci sirom promenade.
A nju sam sretao slucajno,
Uvek je s pogresnim bila ona,
Ali znao sam da sanja onaj badem.
Stane sve u strofu-dve u baladi:
Pustinja proslih minuta i ova zrna sad.
I pred treci refren vec nismo mladi.
Usla je nedavno sama u kafe "Petrograd".
Suvise tajni u ocima,
U zlatni okov joj prstic pao.
Molio me dugi pogled da je kradem.
Dovraga, kafa je gorcila,
Al' taj sam ukus odnekud znao:
Probao sam jednom davno divlji badem.

The wheels of my bike are spinning.
Wherever it stops, no prizes here.
Her heels made a sound on the step.
Once, our glances were pure chemistry.
The week started well,
Last preparations for the final exam.
We peered into the distance, full of hope.
Over the high school wall,
Like a perfect backdrop for an adventure,
A delicate purple wild almond tree bloomed,
The winds carried us away like dandelions.
Some soared effortlessly, while others fell.
And the girls became playful kittens,
While the bad students suddenly ruled the world.
Everything sounded great to me.
I stood my ground well during those times.
Her eyes swayed me along the promenade.
And I met her by chance,
She was always with the wrong guy,
But I knew she dreamt of that almond tree.
It all fits into a verse or two in a ballad:
A desert of past minutes and these grains now.
And before the third refrain, we're no longer young.
She recently entered the "Petrograd" cafe alone.
Too many secrets in her eyes,
A necklace of gold fell around her neck.
Her lingering gaze asked me to steal her away.
Damn, the coffee was bitter,
But I knew that taste from somewhere:
I had once tasted wild almond long ago.
