Culi ste za Zlatni Bokal, to je jedan sumnjiv lokal, al′ je kuvar pravi as.
Sedeo sam sam za stolom, pio viski s koka kolom, kada zacuh neki glas:
"Znam vas, pardon, s televizije. Vi ste ponos naze nizije.
Moja kci od devet godina, sve vase pesme zna, bas svaki stih".

Na te reci izvanredne, ponudih da sa mnom sedne, (cekao je samo to).
Rece: "Hm, ja sam iz orkestra, ta sto peva mi je sestra, tu smo vec mesec i po.
Mi vas ne bi maltretirali, al' bi nesto sad odsvirali,
To je jedan slager licno nas, zelimo cuti vas cenjeni sud".

Pa rece: "Mirka, ljubavi jedina moja ti, ko te sada dirka,
I ko ti pod prozore dolazi da ti svirka?
Mirka, mozda bi mi sretno ziveli,
Samo da si ti nasla pravi put do mog tuznog srca".

Rekoh da cu im pomoci kol′ko je u mojoj moci, al' ja sam pevac tek.
Rece: "Svi su producenti promaseni dirigenti, niko nema smek.
Mi vec godinama sviramo, al' strasno slabo prosperiramo.
Poslusajte jos jedanput bar, ovo je prava stvar, veliki hit!"

Pa rece: "Mirka, ljubavi jedina moja ti, ko te sada dirka...

Pricali smo posle dugo, o muzici, sta bi drugo, popili smo oho-ho.
Ja od tada slabo radim, stvarno nije da se vadim, al′ je razlog tacno to.
Ta mi se interpretacija, javlja k′o halucinacija,
Proganja me, muci, vraca se, uvek, k'o bumerang,
Taj smesni, divni refren.

We went to Zlatni Bokal, that's a bit of a dodgy joint, but the chef is a real ace.
I sat alone at the table, drinking whiskey with Coke, when I heard a voice:
"I know you, excuse me, from TV. You're the pride of our valleys.
My nine-year-old daughter knows all your songs, every single verse".

At those wonderful words, I asked her to sit with me, (he was just waiting for that).
He said: "Erm, I'm from the band, the one that's singing is my sister, we've been here for over a month now.

I said I'd help them as much as I could, but I'm only a singer.
He said: "All the producers are failed conductors, no one has any flair.

We talked for a long time afterwards, about music, what else, we drank plenty.
