Irokim drumom to izlazi na most.
Odlazi cirkus i ja se pitam sada:
Ko je domaæin a ko je bio gost?

Nestaje cirkus u irokoj ravnici.
U kinoj noæi za njim se srebri trag.
Odlazi fakir i artisti na ici
I tuni pajac to bio mi je drag.

Dal' je sve bilo samo fol?
Dal' je sve samo jeftin trik?
Il' sve te maske kriju bol
I neki sasvim drugi lik?

Prièaæe deca o svetlima arene,
Vebaæe kriom kod kuæe neki tos.
Ali veæ sutra, èim proðe neko vreme
Samo æe retko pomiljati na to.

Ostaæe okrugli trag na mestu atre,
Tu gde se hrvao sa tigrom hrabri grk.
I par plakata, na njima gutaè vatre
Kome æe klinci veæ nacrtati brk.

Dal' je sve bilo samo fol?
Dal' je sve samo jeftin trik?
Il' sve te maske kriju bol
I neki sasvim drugi lik?

Laku noæ dame i gospodo.
Eto, i ova predstava je zavrena.
Nadam se da ste uivali u njoj.
Bilo je zadovoljstvo glupirati se za vas sve ove godine.
Nadam se da æemo se jo videti u nekom drugom gradu,
Na nekoj drugoj predstavi,
U nekom drugom cirkusu.

Odlazi cirkus, za sve je bolje tako.
Mnogi su predstavu shvatili do sad.
Nove pajace ce masa naæi lako
Jer drugi cirkus ce doæi u na grad.

Ma sve je bilo samo fol.
Sve je to samo jeftin trik.
I sve te maske kriju bol
I neki sasvim drugi lik.

"The Circus is Leaving

The circus is leaving our small town
It's going out on the wide road to the bridge.
The circus is leaving and I wonder now:
Who was the host and who was the guest?

The circus is disappearing in the vast plain.
In the dark night, a silver trail follows it.
The fakir is leaving, and the acrobats on the wire,
And the sad clown was so dear to me.

Was it all just a joke?
Was it all just a cheap trick?
Or did those masks hide pain,
And some completely different persona?

Children will talk about the lights of the arena,
Thieves will hide in the house of some boss.
But tomorrow, when some time has passed,
Only rarely will they think of it.

There will be a round trace on the site of the arena,
Where the brave Greek wrestled with the tiger.
And a couple of posters, on them a fire-eater,
On whom the kids will draw a mustache.

Was it all just a joke?
Was it all just a cheap trick?
Or did those masks hide pain,
And some completely different persona?

Good night ladies and gentlemen.
You see, this play is also over.
I hope you enjoyed it.
It was a pleasure to fool around with you all these years.
I hope we will see each other in another city,

In some other circus.
