I gaze upon Banat, Srem

An ancient sea once flowed here, so I'm told
It has run dry and left me stranded

I am a natural born sailor, like Magellan
Or better yet, like Admiral Cook
I lose my spirit on these plains amidst the wheat fields
A sea dog beached amongst the rye

My sea is gone
And I don't know what to do
My old man says
That even the Danube is not bad

That somewhere, someday

That's why my life is bitter as tonic
My sorrow knows no bounds
But luckily there's the moon, the lighthouse
