Commentary

It has nothing of the what, nothing of the how
The light of our film
Only a stain bursts through
And burns it and gives birth to it

They call it Makronissos
The people have triumphed
Bursting forth in a chain reaction
Through everyone's blood

Betrayals and lies
And stupid policies
Those who broke down there
I maintain are saved forever
Not that they are in life,
But that they have suffered much.

Such light that bleeds
I want to resurrect
With the what and with the how
And you'll eat me like a cancer.

I know people like you,
Who tell me not to ask
Back in '48
I passed through there too
They were frightening days
Makronissos, as they say.

And yet now that I am there
In Pantelis' film
I suddenly realize for the first time
What all this means.

I feel like a different person,
I greet you with a fist.
