Απόψε πήρε άδεια
και με την τσέπη άδεια
τραβάει για την πόλη.
Ρίχνει ένα γεια σου στο φρουρό,
σαλτάρει σ' ένα φορτηγό,
κι ο χάρος δε γλιτώνει.

Έλα στην παρέα μας, φαντάρε
κάτσε κι ένα ποτηράκι πάρε.
Ξέχνα στρατώνες και σκοπιές
κι από το μπρούσκο της καρδιάς μας πιες.

Η πόλη σαν τη γόησσα
σαν την παλιά αρχόντισσα
ανάβει τα κολιέ της.
Μα σαν τον φέρνει στα στενά
τον κουβεντιάζει η μοναξιά,
τον παίρνει αγκαζέ της.

Οι δρόμοι τον κουράσανε,
παράπονα τον πιάσανε,
στο ταβερνάκι μπαίνει.
Κάποιον να βρει για ένα πιοτό,
να 'χουν τον ίδιο τον καημό,
μαζί να δουν πού βγαίνει.

The Soldier

Tonight he's on leave
and with his pockets empty
he heads for the city.
He throws a salute to the guard,
leaps onto a truck,
and death does not escape him.

Come and join us, soldier
sit down and have a drink.
Forget about barracks and guard duty
and drink from the depths of our hearts.

The city is like a seductress
like an old noblewoman
turning on her lights.
But when she takes him into the narrow streets
