It all began amidst the ages,
A dance around the bride so fair.
She's young, slender, and pure, I swear,

But for her, words are just a show.

All desire to lie beside her so,
But she cares for none, this I know.
The righteous pyre burns bright and bold,

But time will tear the bloody fold,
Dispel the black legend's blight.
Fear arose in darkness' wake,
Terror gripped each face in sight.
Eyes fixed on the floor, throats choked tight,
It came for a soul tonight.
The Holy Inquisition's might,
And friend turned foe in its light.
All yearn to grasp the sharpest sword,
All dream of being executioners bold,
All desire to see the witch burn, cold,
Without a doubt, pity, or a story told.
