Санька Котов прошёл пол-Европы и в Берлине закончил войну
Медсанбатами трижды заштопан, долгожданную встретил весну

В лычках трёх - ленинградскую славу, Петроградскую ярость и боль
Петербургскую гордость державы под обстрелом носил он с собой
Дрался Саня за слёзы любимой, за зарытый в земле Летний сад
За любимого города гимн, за родимый свой Ленинград
Иногда, в тишине на полянке, перед боем, чтоб стать ещё злей
Вспоминал Саня Котов Фонтанку, как на лодке гонялся по ней
И вздымалась волна штормовая, и без промаха бил автомат
И звезда на груди Золотая в полный рост поднимала солдат
В ночь одну становились друзьями парень с Волги и парень с Невы
Чтоб наутро, махнувшись часами, разойтись по окопам своим
Натерялся товарищей Саня - ни сказать, ни пером описать:
С Барнаула, с Одессы, с Рязани - всех не вспомнить и не сосчитать
Но за всех заплативши с лихвою, он вернулся с победой домой
Ленинградский прославленный воин, как свой город, опять молодой
И он рад, что всё в полном порядке, что назло милицейским постам

Sanya Kotov recalled the Fontanka, how he raced on it in a boat
And the stormy wave rose, and the machine gun fired without fail
And the Gold Star on his chest raised the soldier to his full height
