It happened a hundred years ago,
The world was scarred by war.
Shell after shell, the enemy sent,
The fortress endured the core.
Iron's roar, tongues of fire's blaze —
A scorching hurricane's wrath.
We lost count of nights and days,
Writhing on the ground from the aftermath.
At dawn, the fortress was shrouded in gas —
A deadly foe, faceless and grim.
