Спускаясь по лестнице в рай пампасов однажды на склоне дня,

Я знала о нем лишь то, что он есть, он пришел из великих времен,
Но когда он стоял у ворот океана, я поняла - это он.

Я видела руки, просившие хлеба, и руки, зовущие смерть.
Я видела руки, воздетые к небу, и руки, державшие плеть.
Я видела руки атлантов и руки святых со старинных икон,
Но увидев в руке его белый лотос, я поняла - это он.

The White Lotus

We drove into town in a solar eclipse and came out at the edge of the earth.
Below opened up a medieval view of the Bay of Bengal.
We waited for something that might happen where everything ends...
And each of us, holding their breath, saw what they wanted.
