Бродяга

На дороге разбитое тело,
На деревьях останки души -
Одинокая смерть пролетела
В этой Богом забытой глуши.

Он лежал на истлевшем бурьяне,
Плыли в небе слепые глаза.
Безымянный, босой, окаянный,
А вдали собиралась гроза.

На груди в свете молний сияли
Два червя да серебряный крест,
А вдали молча горы стояли,
Стерегли пустоту этих мест.

Эй, бродяга, ты сын человечий,
Где твой конь, где жена, где село?
Облаками окутавши плечи,
Мать-гроза отпевала его.

Сколько лет ты по свету скитался,
Как давно от родимой двери?
В даль ушел и навек там остался,
Господь душу его забери.

Закопал я его под ольхою,
Свет от молний стекал по усам,
Не увидел я тень за собою...
Понял, что хоронил себя сам.

The Wanderer

A broken body on the road,
On the trees, remnants of a soul -

In this God-forsaken wilderness.

He lay on the decayed weeds,
Blind eyes swam in the sky.
Nameless, barefoot, damned,
And in the distance, a storm was gathering.

On his chest, in the light of lightning, shone
Two worms and a silver cross,
And in the distance, the mountains stood silently,
Guarding the emptiness of these places.

Hey, wanderer, you son of man,
Where is your horse, where is your wife, where is your village?
Wrapping his shoulders with clouds,
Mother-thunderstorm sang his funeral song.

How many years have you wandered the world,
How long has it been since your native door?
He went into the distance and stayed there forever,
May the Lord take his soul.

I buried him under an alder tree,
The light from the lightning flowed down my mustache,
I didn't see a shadow behind me...
I realized that I was burying myself.
