Жил-был на свете политический новатор
На самом деле - просто мелкий провокатор
Был балаболом, трепачом и стукачом
Теперь вдруг менеджером стал и фирмачом

Между столами и политиками ловко
Скользит на всяких политических тусовках
Он ходит в лидерах, куда-то всех зовёт
Но стукачом родился - стукачом помрёт

Опять Россию словно леший сглазил
Холуй Холуич услужить вождям старался
Таскал горшки и от плевков не вытирался
Начальству под ноги бросался тут и там

Ходил на цыпочках вокруг да по пятам
Жена во фрак его в холуйский нарядила
А он в кулак ещё сморкается, чудила
Зато вон орден "за заслуги" есть на "ём"

Теперь он стал орденоносным холуём
Опять Россию словно леший сглазил
Один гадёныш жил на свете тише мыши
Но в перестройку вдруг поднялся выше крыши

Поставлен был делить народное добро
И здесь раскрыл своё продажное нутро
Берёт он взятки слева, справа, сверху, снизу
Таков, мол, рынок, развитой капитализм

Берёт деньгами и щенками чем дают
Дурак, не делится свои же и прибьют
Опять Россию словно леший сглазил
Парнишка смолоду особо отличился

Он ни читать и ни писать не научился
Зато освоил быстро трёхэтажный мат
Освоил нож, и пистолет, и автомат
И на большую, на разбойную дорогу

Пошёл от самого от школьного порога
Теперь деньжищ полно, теперь он вышел в "свет"
И в высшем обществе большой авторитет
Опять Россию словно леший сглазил

При демократах стал сосед продажной шкурой
Большим начальником, большой демократурой
Теперь Россию иностранцам продаёт
И нефть, и уголь, и заводы, и народ!

Его б давно под суд, его б в тюрьму, на нары
А он - то в Лондон, то в Париж, то на Канары
Его б в наручники давно бы нарядить
А он всё рвётся в депутатах походить

Опять Россию словно леший сглазил
Ах, что за жизнь, что за разбой, что за порядки
Обдемократились мы по уши, ребятки
И в результате воплощенья дем-идей

Какой-то новый появился тип людей
И в животе у них коньяк, икра да крабы
А в голове у них лишь доллары да бабы
Такого не было от века на Руси

О, Боже праведный, помилуй и спаси

From Rags to Riches

Ah, what a life, ah, what people, what faces,
They'd make for paintings, as the saying goes,
Such vivid characters all around,
Such intricate turns in their lives abound.

Just look who's clawed their way to power,
Those who never broke a sweat in an hour,
Those who lived as idlers, dreaming of command,
To steal with impunity, riches in hand.

Russia's been jinxed again, it seems,
Trash rises to the top, fulfilling dark dreams,
From rags to riches, from rags to riches,
All become masters, instantly, the witches.

There once was a political innovator,
In truth, just a petty provocateur,
A babbler, a braggart, a snitch at his core,
Now suddenly a manager, and a firm's whore.

He glides between desks and politicians with ease,
At every political gathering, he aims to please,
He walks among leaders, calling them to his side,
But a snitch is born, a snitch he'll abide.

Russia's been jinxed again, it seems,
Lackey Lackeyevich tried to serve the regimes,
Carried their pots, never wiping their spit,
Throwing himself at their feet, bit by bit.

He tiptoed around, following close behind,
His wife dressed him in a lackey's design,
And he, the fool, still blows his nose in his fist,
But look, he has a "merit" order, don't resist.

Now he's become a decorated slave,
Russia's been jinxed again, a cruel wave,
A scoundrel lived quieter than a mouse,
But during Perestroika, he rose to the house.

He was appointed to divide the people's wealth,
And here he revealed his corrupt inner stealth,
He takes bribes left, right, above, and below,
Such is the market, developed capitalism's flow.

He takes in cash and puppies, whatever they give,
The fool doesn't share, his own will make him grieve,
Russia's been jinxed again, a sorrowful plight,
A young boy distinguished himself in the night.

He never learned to read or write,
But quickly mastered the three-story swear's might,
He mastered the knife, the gun, and the automatic's call,
And onto the grand, bandit's path, he did fall.

From the school's doorstep, he took that dark way,
Now he's got plenty of cash, he's seen the day,
And in high society, he holds great sway,
Russia's been jinxed again, come what may.

Under democrats, our neighbor became a whore,
A big boss, a grand democratic bore,
Now he sells Russia to foreigners with glee,
Oil, coal, factories, and even you and me!

He should have been on trial, in jail, on the bunk,
But he's off to London, Paris, or a tropical trunk,
He should have been in handcuffs long ago,
But he still yearns to play the deputy's show.

Russia's been jinxed again, it's plain to see,
Ah, what a life, what chaos, what anarchy,
We've been democratized up to our ears, my dear,
And as a result of these democratic ideas, it's clear,

A new type of person has appeared on the scene,
With cognac, caviar, and crabs in their bellies, it would seem,
And in their heads, only dollars and dames reside,
Such things were never seen in Rus' far and wide.

Oh, righteous God, have mercy and save,
Russia's been jinxed again, beyond the grave.
