"Если я чешу в затылке - не беда!
В голове моей опилки, да-да-да!"

Ведь вот как жизнь у нас идёт, ведь вот как!
Всё так же по утрам гудит затылок
Не убывает в магазинах водка
Соотносясь с ресурсами опилок

Наверно, постарались, слава Богу!
В охотку попилили-порубали
И, слава Богу, хоть опилок много
Должно, немало дров поналомали

Опилки есть, и жизнь не увядает
И водка бьёт, как гейзер, и клокочет
И всяк, кто хочет, ею обладает
И всяк, кто хочет, выпьет, сколько хочет

А кто ж не хочет? Каждый, вне сомненья
Возьмёт себе всё то же и всё там же
Без всяких похорон и дней рожденья
А просто чтоб не выдохлась, стоямши

Возьмёт, и уничтожит, и забрезжит
Сияньем глаз во тьме осточертелой
И с радости кого-нибудь порежет
И заберут его за это дело

Общественность осудит и остудит
Его порывы, что не в меру пылки
Дадут ему пилу. Он всё забудет
И будет он производить опилки
И водка в магазинах не убудет.

Sawdust

After all, that's how our life goes, that's how!
Every morning my head's still throbbing
Vodka in the stores won't deplete
In line with the sawdust resources

Seems like they've tried, thank heavens!
To their heart's content sawing and chopping
And thankfully, at least there's plenty of sawdust
Must've chopped a lot of wood

Sawdust is here, and life won't fade away
And vodka flows, gurgling like a geyser
And everyone who wants it, possesses it
And everyone who wants it, can drink as much as they want

And who doesn't want it? Everyone, without a doubt
Will take for themselves the same thing and everything there
Without any funerals or birthdays
But just so that it doesn't get stale, standing still

They'll take it, and destroy it, and it will dawn
With the light of their eyes in the hateful darkness
And for joy they'll cut someone
And they'll be taken for this deed

Society will judge and cool down
Their ardor, which is unduly fervent
They'll give him a saw. He'll forget everything
And he'll make sawdust
And vodka won't run out in the stores.
