Я склонен считать межсезонье весною,
А люди как люди считают, что зря.
Я склонен предаться июльскому зною,
А люди как люди ждут декабря.
И я ношу майку и легкие джинсы,
А люди как люди любят шерсть,
Они отказались от радостей жизни,
Чтоб первыми крикнуть: "Есть!",
Когда ударит мороз.
Я верю газетам и Гидрометцентру,
А также всем прочим разносчикам слов,
А люди как люди уперлись в приметы
И в опыт шестидесятилетних отцов.
И я пою песни, я балую душу,
То пробую степ, то исследую рок,
А люди как люди молчат и слушают:
Они запасают свободу впрок,
На случай, если мороз.
Я, в общем-то, склонен не делать ошибок,
Но эта вода холодна для меня -
Здесь люди как люди, и люди как рыбы,
Люди как только и люди, как я.
Но разница наша - ничто на проверку,
Нас даже сблизила эта вода.
Вопрос только в том, кто окажется сверху,
Потом, в иерархии льда,
Когда ударит мороз

People as People (Off-Season)

I tend to see the off-season as spring,
While people, as people do, think it's in vain.
I tend to indulge in July's scorching heat,
While people, as people do, wait for December's reign.
And I wear a t-shirt and light jeans,
While people, as people do, love wool's embrace,
They've abandoned life's simple joys,
Just to be the first to shout: "Yes!",
When the frost finally hits its pace.
I trust the papers and the weatherman's decree,
And all the other peddlers of words untold,
While people, as people do, cling to old wives' tales,
And the wisdom of their fathers, sixty years old.
And I sing songs, I pamper my soul,
Exploring steppe one day, then venturing into rock,
While people, as people do, listen in silence, their role,
They're saving up their freedom for future stock,
For the time when the frost takes hold.
I, generally, tend to avoid making mistakes,
But this water is too cold for me to bear -
Here, people are like people, and people are like fish in lakes,
People as only people can be, and like me, I swear.
But our difference is nothing when put to the test,
This water has even brought us close, it's true.
The only question is, who will rise above the rest,
Later, in the hierarchy of ice, anew,
When the frost finally breaks through.
