Мы шли дорогой горемык искать свою судьбу
В одной деревне на ночлег старик пустил в избу
Мы пили крепкий самогон - хозяин был к нам добр
Река бежала за окном, шумел сосновый бор

Я пью чуть больше чем могу, но меньше, чем хочу
Когда я пью, я не пою - я не пою, кричу
Hикто мне глотку не заткнет, не запретит мой пляс
Hо тут старик сказал: "Дай я..." и начал свой рассказ

Иван был сказочно богат но не имел детей
Иван накрыл дубовый стол и пригласил гостей
Он переспал с одной вдовой - вдова сказала: "Жди
Теперь зима, я разрешусь, когда пойдут дожди"

Иван счастливый захрапел, как красноармейский полк
Он крепко спал, когда во сне ему явился волк

Волк молвил: "Если хочешь дочь - брось голову в огонь
Захочешь сына - так отдай мне правую ладонь
Hе будь упрямым как осел, будь чистым как слеза
Hо знай - захочешь обмануть - вдова родит козла"

Сказав все это, волк исчез, Иван открыл глаза
Вдова лежала на боку, поглаживая зад
Иван напялил на себя ботинки и трусы
Запряг трех быстрых вороных и кони понесли

Иван скакал четыре дня к кудыкиной горе
Там на горе жил друг Макар - весь в злате, серебре
Макар служил городовым и пропивал навар
Узнав о Ваниной беде, сказал: "Споймаем тварь"

Они расставили капканы вдоль лесных дорог
Попались лев, сова и заяц, но не попался волк
Друзья надыбали жратвы и ринулись в леса
Пока гонялись за волками - кончилась весна

Иван все лето пил вино, гуляя вдоль болот
Вдова сидела у окна и гладила живот
Однажды августовским днем, заслыша Ванин крик
Вдова схватила керосин и подожгла тростник

То был как есть условный знак - заполыхал пожар
Еще не наступил сентябрь, как прискакал Макар
Макар раздвинул камыши и глянул сквозь огонь
А там Иван без головы и где его ладонь

Макар ругнулся: "е-мое", но тихо, не со зла
Вдова не дождалась дождей и родила козла

С тех пор прошло двенадцать лет, Макар за взятки сел
Козла пустили в огород, и козлик окосел
Иван схоронен у болот - там тихо, ни души
И из груди его растут цветные камыши

Старик закончил, тихо встал, открыл нам сеновал
Друзья заснули сей же час и только я не спал
Я думал, глядя на луну, что стало со вдовой
Всю ночь сквозь храп моих друзей я слышал волчий вой

Fairytale

We walked the path of the wretched, seeking our fate
In a village, an old man let us stay in his hut for the night
We drank strong moonshine - the host was kind to us
The river flowed outside the window, the pine forest rustled

I drink a little more than I can, but less than I want
When I drink, I don't sing - I don't sing, I scream
No one will shut my throat, no one will forbid my dance
But then the old man said: "Let me..." and began his story

Ivan was fabulously wealthy but had no children
Ivan set the oak table and invited guests
He slept with a widow - the widow said: "Wait
Now it's winter, I'll give birth when the rains come"

Happy Ivan snored like a Red Army regiment
He slept soundly when a wolf appeared to him in a dream

The wolf said: "If you want a daughter - throw your head into the fire
If you want a son - give me your right hand
Don't be stubborn like a donkey, be pure like a tear
But know - if you try to cheat - the widow will give birth to a goat"

Having said all this, the wolf disappeared, Ivan opened his eyes
The widow was lying on her side, stroking her backside
Ivan put on his boots and underwear
He harnessed three fast black horses and the horses carried him away

Ivan rode for four days to the middle of nowhere
There on the mountain lived his friend Makar - all in gold and silver
Makar served as a policeman and drank away his profits
Learning about Ivan's trouble, he said: "We'll catch the beast"

They set traps along the forest roads
A lion, an owl and a hare were caught, but not the wolf
The friends found some food and rushed into the forests
While they were chasing wolves - spring ended

Ivan drank wine all summer, walking along the swamps
The widow sat by the window and stroked her belly
One August day, hearing Ivan's cry
The widow grabbed kerosene and set the reeds on fire

It was a signal - a fire broke out
September had not yet arrived when Makar came riding
Makar parted the reeds and looked through the fire
And there was Ivan without a head and where was his palm

Makar swore: "damn it", but quietly, not out of malice
The widow did not wait for the rains and gave birth to a goat

Twelve years have passed since then, Makar went to jail for bribes
The goat was let into the garden, and the little goat became stupid
Ivan is buried by the swamps - it's quiet there, not a soul
And colorful reeds grow from his chest

The old man finished, stood up quietly, opened the hayloft for us
My friends fell asleep immediately and only I did not sleep
I thought, looking at the moon, what became of the widow
All night through the snoring of my friends I heard the howling of a wolf
