"מאה רובל" סח הגוי ומושקה אז משיב:
"חמישים שילמתי כבר, אתן עוד חמישים"

תמורת החמישים קיבלת כבר את הניגון

ושיר אינו חינם".
הצניע מושקה את צרורו והסתלק משם

So said the squire to Mushka the groom,
And gave him a hundred rubles to set out immediately.
Mushka walks to the fair, and oh what luck!
By the inn stands a gentile with a white horse just like that,

And the gentile, a young lad, stands there daydreaming,
