أبد ماني بحاجة من يعلّم قلبي المنقود
أعرفه قبل ما أعرفك لأنّ أبويْ رباني
ولا تحسب كلامي لك عتب ما في المعاتب فود
ولا تحسب شموخي ينكسر لو عشت وحداني

حسبت إنك هدية عمري وإنك لي غلا وورود
ولكن خابت آمالي وبان الغدر بأزماني
على الله لو فهمت القصد وإلاّ فاتك المقصود
أنا ما عاد يعنيني ولا فرقاك عنَّاني

أنا ببقى مثل ما أنا شموخي للسما ممدود
لأنّ الطيب من طبعي وأترفع عن الداني
وأنا أكبر من التّحجيم، راسي شامخٍ كالطود
ومتحدي شموخي من تحدّى باس وجداني

وجودك والعدم واحد ولا كنّك أبد موجود
ولا قربك رفع شأني ولا في بعدك أعاني
أنا ذوق وحياتي ذوق وكل طيبٍ لطيبي يعود
نسيتك قبل ما تنسى مع إنك صعب تنساني

Son of the Earth

I am from the earth, son of the earth, and I have nothing more
Except that God has given me strength, and I have my own destiny and my own affairs
I was created to know my place, and that generosity is for those who are generous
