Young Leaves

Shining in kind light, I took everything in stride,
Staring through the door, but all I saw was a deep mist.
I always thought it would last forever,
But it slipped away between my fingers,
Slips into countless memories I can recall.
When the flowers were in full bloom,
The city sky lit up by your smile.
Cool breeze, birds singing,
We shared it all.
I didn't notice the thin thread connecting us,
And in the end, it snapped.
We were so young, carefree and noisy...
But I never understood that day when you said, "I'm scared." Your face was so serious.
Like a fire that burns everything, even the precious things,
I almost extinguished the flame we'd kept alive for so long.
Slips into countless memories I can recall.
When the flowers were in full bloom,
All the lovely stories we shared.
Running barefoot, feeling the pain,
It was all a joy.
I pretended not to know what selfishness was.
Pretended not to know.
All those memories, every nook and cranny,
When the young leaves were sprouting.
I was surprised by the sudden rain.
It made me so nostalgic that I wanted to cry,
But I locked the door and moved on,
Taking one step closer.
