White Cloud Castle

This fleeting world, a dreamlike illusion,
Is it drifting clouds, or ruins of a castle?
On moss-covered stone walls,

I try to recall its glorious past,
But only the desolate wind cries.

The castle, silent, speaks nothing,
The heavens, eternal, unmoving.
Only human hearts waver,

Reflecting the moon's image, full and overflowing,
The once brimming moat now runs dry.
Dew settles on nameless flowers.

Withered leaves of countless seasons,
Pile up and decay at the main gate.

My heart a bed of grass,
Who plays the flute? Who plays the koto?
In the moonlight, a young warrior rises,

Where is his noble figure now?
Ah, autumn departs from the ruined castle.
