Parting Drizzle

I ask you, please,
to care for my parents
I pray for their future, hands clasped tight.
A man has times when he must go.
The parting drizzle, carrying withered leaves,
beats against the window, as if calling me.

Father says, "Go, my son,"
"Live your one life to the fullest,"
"Strive in the wide world."
A man has dreams he doesn't speak aloud.
The parting drizzle, on this morning of farewell,
why does it wet my departure?

Though it pains me to leave, I must go.
Without even seeing me off,
Mother bravely turns her back.
I vow to return someday. As I turn to look back,
Is it the parting drizzle or tears of dew
that fall softly upon my shoulders?
