Author of Dreams

The author of dreams is a different kind of author. He begins writing when I fall asleep.
I've never heard anyone mention his real name, but in every way, he's much cooler than me.
He uses me as the main character in his fantastical stories,
and he cleverly copies familiar scenes.

He creates a world that can turn my days and nights upside down, and I've lived through it a thousand times without ever making it a reality.
Somehow, all my past experiences come together in the same moment, or he simulates my future.
The plot is twisted enough that it would take several Freuds to analyze it,
but I remember the dialogue, and I also remember a few of the ghosts that live in my brain.

They force me to let go, to scream and shout, while my legs are trapped in prison,
unable to move until my bladder is full.

Sometimes the me in his stories is very weak, very slow. Everyone around me is deliberately cold.
He gathers all the elements that frighten me, wanting to test how I will react. But I can't stand the judgment.
A distant and mysterious time, a chaotic era, stifling relationships, endless endurance.
Enduring... enduring... My throat is so dry.

His handwriting is sloppy, and he doesn't seem to care about being original.
The fragmented details of the plot are haphazardly thrown together. The logic behind his collages is a mystery to me.
Our creations battle for dominance, until one of us is destroyed.
I am awake when he sleeps, and I sleep when he is awake. Occasionally, he runs out of material.

When he hits a creative block, I feel a glimmer of hope.
But the more inspiration he finds, the harder it is for me to wake up.

He also writes about the decline of morals, and about me making love to my mother.
He writes about archaeology, with giant ruins buried beneath my feet, made of emerald-green jade. When I push aside the weeds,
He writes film and television, about Qin Yang cutting open Wang Hui's five heads to reveal a pot of curry inside.

He rewrites all kinds of definitions, cultivates new species, and invents new technologies.
He develops different astronomical and geographical systems, and performs secret experiments on me in my mind.
His electrical currents stimulate my rapid eye movement.
And most importantly, he helps me to write quickly.
I recreate his madness without worrying about writer's block. Inspiration strikes me in my dreams.
