滚着铁圈在胡同追、身后风筝飞
待到春天柳枝垂、拧成柳哨吹
我是八九点钟的太阳、好好学习天天向上
只为了我那唯一的愿望、将来能有一支枪

那时候我起的总是那么早、总能看到鸟儿在舞蹈
我穿着洁白的上衣、红领巾在胸前票

每天下午的五六点、姐姐又在叫我回家吃饭
我总是躲着不让她看见、她的声音越来越远

时光一晃就三十年、我们早已变了容颜
我想看一看我的小伙伴、我想回到那一天
那时的天是那么蓝、我的笑容那么灿烂
送别的歌声还在耳边、我想回到那一天

我走在上学的路上、又看到火红的太阳
现在看到同样的感觉、跟小时候不一样
月亮又靠在我的肩头上、我又想起床前明月光
想起了妈妈的一双手、陪着我轻声唱

Back to That Day

Rolling my hoop in pursuit, kite flying behind me
When the willow branches hung low in spring, I’d twist them into a whistle and blow
I was like the sun at eight or nine, forever studying, always in line
Only ever driven by my one true desire, that one day I might hold a gun in my hand

I would wake before dawn each day, so I could watch the birds at play
Clad in my bright white shirt, a red neckerchief tied around my neck

At five or six each afternoon, my sister would call me home to eat
Yet I’d hide from her, eager to stay out late, until her voice faded

How thirty years have passed in the blink of an eye, leaving us all so changed
I yearn to see my childhood friends again, I long to go back to that time
When the skies were so blue, and my smile was so wide
The sound of our farewell song still echoes in my ears, I want to go back to that time

As I walk to school each day, I see that same crimson sun
Yet the same sight now fills me with such different feelings
The moon rests again on my shoulder, and I’m reminded of the poem I recited by heart
And I think of my mother’s gentle hands, softly singing me to sleep
