In a strange hotel, in the early hours of a sleepless morning,
A distant train whistle wails,
In the quiet of a winter's night, when the drunken revelry fades,
The wind chimes ring sadly beneath the cold moon.
In a drizzling city, in the congested twilight,
A snatch of familiar melody drifts on the breeze,
On the eve of moving, with a heavy heart,
I'm lost in memories, turning the pages of an old, yellowed diary.

In a crowded room, a strange girl,
A face that seems familiar, awakening youthful memories,
In a moving film, in a dark corner,
A melancholy woman, with tears in her eyes.
On a dreary day, in the midnight streets,
A man sings hoarsely in a karaoke bar.
In the midst of work, a moment's respite,
On the phone, an old lover's voice, wishing you a happy birthday.
That was a September afternoon.
