世尊妙相具
我今重問彼
The
revered
one,
with
wondrous
appearance
now
I
ask
again,
佛子何因緣
名為觀世音
Son
of
the
Buddha,
tell
me
why
you
are
known
as
Guanshiyin,
具足妙相尊
偈答無盡意
With
such
perfectly
divine
features
now
I
answer
without
end,
汝聽觀音行
善應諸方所
Listen,
I
will
tell
you
of
the
doings
of
Guanshiyin,
responding
to
all
with
goodness,
弘誓深如海
歷劫不思議
Great
vow
profound
like
the
sea,
through
eons
unforeseen,
侍多千億佛
發大清淨願
Attending
to
a
myriad
of
Buddhas,
a
great
and
pure
aspiration
now,
我為汝略說
聞名及見身
I
will
speak
of
it
briefly,
so
hear
it
and
see
the
manifestation,
心念不空過
能滅諸有苦
If
the
mind
is
not
empty
of
thought,
all
suffering
can
be
eliminated,
假使興害意
推落大火坑
If
you
should
arise
with
harmful
intent,
and
fall
into
a
pit
of
fire,
念彼觀音力
火坑變成池
Remember
the
power
of
Guanshiyin,
and
the
pit
of
fire
will
turn
into
a
pool,
或漂流巨海
龍魚諸鬼難
Or
if
you
are
adrift
on
the
vast
sea,
plagued
by
sharks
and
ghosts,
念彼觀音力
波浪不能沒
Remember
the
power
of
Guanshiyin,
and
the
waves
will
not
prevail,
或在須彌峯
為人所推墮
Or
being
on
the
peak
of
Mount
Sumeru,
should
you
fall,
念彼觀音力
如日虛空住
Remember
the
power
of
Guanshiyin
and
remain
suspended
like
the
sun
in
the
void,
或被惡人逐
墮落金剛山
Or
if
wicked
people
chase
you,
and
you
fall
from金刚山,
念彼觀音力
不能損一毛
Remember
the
power
of
Guanshiyin,
and
not
even
a
single
hair
will
be
harmed,
或值怨賊繞
各執刀加害
Or
if
you
are
surrounded
by
enemies,
each
wielding
a
blade,
念彼觀音力
咸即起慈心
Remember
the
power
of
Guanshiyin,
and
all
will
be
filled
with
compassion,
或遭王難苦
臨刑欲壽終
If
a
king"s
troubles
befall
you,
and
you
face
execution,
念彼觀音力
刀尋段段壞
Remember
the
power
of
Guanshiyin,
and
the
blade
will
shatter,
或囚禁枷鎖
手足被杻械
Or
if
you
are
imprisoned
in
shackles
and
fetters,
念彼觀音力
釋然得解脫
Remember
the
power
of
Guanshiyin,
and
find
liberation,
呪詛諸毒藥
所欲害身者
If
curses
and
poisons
are
directed
at
you,
念彼觀音力
還著於本人
Remember
the
power
of
Guanshiyin,
and
their
effects
will
turn
against
the
sender,
或遇惡羅剎
毒龍諸鬼等
Or
if
you
encounter
evil
demons,
poisonous
dragons
and
ghosts,
念彼觀音力
時悉不敢害
Remember
the
power
of
Guanshiyin,
and
all
such
beings
will
not
dare
to
harm
you,
若惡獸圍遶
利牙爪可怖
If
a
pack
of
ferocious
beasts
surround
you,
with
sharp
claws
a
frightening
sight,
念彼觀音力
疾走無邊方
Remember
the
power
of
Guanshiyin,
and
they
will
flee
without
end,
蚖蛇及蝮蠍
氣毒煙火燃
If
vipers,
cobras
and
scorpions
approach,
with
venomous
breath
and
fire,
念彼觀音力
尋聲自迴去
Remember
the
power
of
Guanshiyin,
and
at
the
sound
of
the
name
they
will
retreat,
雲雷鼓掣電
降雹澍大雨
If
clouds
and
thunder
strike,
if
storms
and
hail
descend,
念彼觀音力
應時得消散
Remember
the
power
of
Guanshiyin,
and
they
will
swiftly
dissipate,
眾生被困厄
無量苦逼身
If
beings
find
themselves
in
distress,
with
unbearable
suffering,
觀音妙智力
能救世間苦
The
power
of
Guanshiyin"s
wisdom
can
deliver
them
from
mundane
suffering,
具足神通力
廣修智方便
With
supernatural
powers,
endless
wisdom
and
skillful
means,
十方諸國土
無剎不現身
In
all
the
lands
of
the
ten
directions,
in
every
realm
the
manifestation,
種種諸惡趣
地獄鬼畜生
In
all
the
different
realms
of
suffering,
of
hell,
hungry
ghosts
and
animals,
生老病死苦
以漸悉令滅
Birth,
old
age,
sickness
and
death,
all
such
suffering
gradually
extinguished,
真觀清淨觀
廣大智慧觀
True
view,
pure
view,
great
wisdom
view,
悲觀及慈觀
常願常瞻仰
View
of
compassion
and
love,
always
aspire
to
see,
無垢清淨光
慧日破諸闇
With
pure
and
immaculate
light,
the
sun
of
wisdom
dispels
darkness,
能伏災風火
普明照世間
Calming
storms
and
fires,
universally
illuminating
the
world,
悲體戒雷震
慈意妙大雲
With
the
roar
of
thunderous
precepts,
gentle
kindness
like
a
cloud,
澍甘露法雨
滅除煩惱焰
Pouring
the
sweet
rain
of
dharma,
extinguishing
the
flames
of
vexation,
諍訟經官處
怖畏軍陣中
In
courts
of
law
and
fierce
battlefields,
念彼觀音力
眾怨悉退散
Remember
the
power
of
Guanshiyin,
and
all
enmity
will
retreat,
妙音觀世音
梵音海潮音
Wonderful
sound,
Guanshiyin,
with
the
ocean
of
sound
of
Brahma,
勝彼世間音
是故須常念
Surpassing
all
worldly
sounds,
therefore
it
should
be
constantly
remembered,
念念勿生疑
觀世音淨聖
With
each
thought,
do
not
allow
doubt,
Guanshiyin
is
pure
and
sacred,
於苦惱死厄
能為作依怙
In
times
of
suffering
and
death,
able
to
offer
refuge,
具一切功德
慈眼視眾生
Possessing
all
virtues,
with
compassionate
eyes
on
all
beings,
福聚海無量
是故應頂禮
Sea
of
boundless
blessings,
therefore
it
should
be
bowed
to,
