Sam Lachow feat. Maggie Lou May - Play Pretend Lyrics

Lyrics Play Pretend - Sam Lachow feat. Maggie Lou May

Kindergarten started with some ambition,
Writin′ lyrics and writin' diaries, handwritten
I was shy as a child but I survived in the wild
I had a little bit of rhythm so I ran with it
But here we are this is us right here
It′s been a rough year, since Woody and Buzz Lightyear
I don't wanna go out early and miss the rest of my
Youth, shit, I don't wanna Miss out on Incredibles 2!
So now I′m on a morning bender with my best
Friend Maggie, reminiscing ′bout our messed up families
We used to play pretend we hated when our parents
Shouted, now we sit on Couches in houses writing lyrics about it
I don't wake up needing liquor but it′s harder without it
I wear my heart on my jacket as if it's part of my outfit
But I don′t argue or shout,
Lately my lady's been telling me I remind her of Charles Bukowski
She likes my vices, my alcoholism, all of it
She wants to be the one who can save me from all of my problems
I do it for the drama the art and all the astonishment
The only people I keep it honest with is my audience
And lately I haven′t been getting as creative from smoking weed,
And I write Lyrics when I'm drunk
And wake up and just hope it's decent
I write my secrets in poems and hope she reads it
I know she reads it
