Jack Dawkins - Dear Jack paroles de chanson

paroles de chanson Dear Jack - Jack Dawkins

Dear Jack, let me take a crack at penning you this letter
I could go until my pen cracks, but the writing wouldn't get much better
Between ink and tears, the page can't get much wetter
You got to know there isn't anything I wouldn't do for you ever
I'm in my pulpit
That makes me feel old, I'm on some bullshit
But really, I'm just feeling push and pull shit
Of what I feel versus what I think
My thoughts float my boat, but they let my heart sink
So I pull my soul to the surface, but I got to use my heartstrings
I can make my heart sing when I align with stars
Surprise, surprise, that's when I write the best bars
When I'm not thinking about success and outcomes
Or release dates and pre-saves and keepsakes and albums
But instead, I stay present to how joy feels
And really that's connecting to how a boy feels
His innocence lights up the rhymes like filaments
You can bring focus like Ritalin
But you'll never make it big if you don't take care of little him
The inner child, divine inspired
High on life, and he's never tired
It's not his job to be cool or to understand
It's not his job to think about revenue streams and brand
It's your job to let his imagination explore all that it can
Keep him close and hold his hand
'Cause he's the key to the lock on your genius
He's the cure to the hard-shell and the meanness
When the truth comes through, that's how I know you mean it
Protect him with everything you are, I fucking mean it
Because we do this for the freedom
Not financial, circumstantial, or all the other normal reasons
It's the chance to express unencumbered
'Cause every day you do it, then the old days are numbered
So let your love and your eyes brim with wonder
Be grateful for your food, don't focus on the hunger
Write rhymes until those bars shine
Don't polish too much, or you'll just erase all your lines
And wrinkles that you earned from burning up these candles
Be proud of your movements, don't seek to be exampled
Don't dilute and divide your life to be sampled
Be less neocortex and more hippocampal
Trust your emotions and intuition when they hit you
Don't be greedy, wait, let it hit you
And then write it down, clean it up, and put that shit on wax
And then relax
