Sweet Tooth

Figs in the sunlight
Falling on the grass, bats in the pine
Waiting for the twilight, staying alive
Blade of the evening
Green flash, shadow when the moth arrives
And I hear you walking up the drive

Gliding thru the half light
Your echo breaks like a new cut tooth
Eyes glowing at the edge of the lawn
Craving to be let loose

Leave the window wide
Lie on the roof
In the brazen night
Defiant blooms
We let it pull us through

Heat of the daytime
Held in the ground
And then cut loose
Fruit on the pavement, bat in the sky
Diving at the right time

Gliding thru the half light

Moth clinging to a false moon's honey
The pleasure of the consumed
In a half light trance
It's changing every chance it gets
Eyes roving at the edge of the lawn
Ravenous without regret
