Getting night, it's not so bright you see
He isn't out of sight, I know he's not for me
He didn't say what I'd expect to hear
But then he spoke so well and I needed company
Sad to say I must be on my way
But he just shook my hand
He said I understand
Went on home and as I turned my key
I thought of the day and what I hoped it would be
A simple call won't go far today
Write a poem, I might be on my way
Your dinners and letters and records is all I know
I keep getting better but somehow it's hurting me more
I know my own premise I waited forever for loving
Whatever I want here I know when I get it there's more
Going out, the sun is out today
It wasn't much to see, I bought some groceries
I didn't think this is not for me
I just went back home and I put on my TV
When I dream I'm not far away
When I wake it's the same old day
Your dinners and letters and records is all I know
I keep getting better but somehow it's hurting me more
I know my own premise I waited forever for loving
Whatever I want here I know when I get it there's more
