Daniel Pioro - Winter Songtexte

Songtexte Winter - Daniel Pioro

Winter
By night, cold winter moon hangs up there
By day, pale sun brings us no warmth
We are as frozen as the world about us
Feet, fingers, ears, nose, ache with it
Frost and snow, ice and sleet, no hiding place out there
But, we have hearth and home to huddle in
To thaw ourselves out, feel toes again
We have piping porridge, steaming soup
A log fire ablaze, a warm bed, blankets
At night, each warms the other
And the dog does too
We share our warmth
We dream of spring
And wake to winter
Winter white all about us
Puddles and pails frozen hard
A forbidden lake, iced over, beckons us
We slip and slide, gamble and tumble
Frisky with laughter and courage, we test the ice
The lake invites us, tempts us on
To brave the web of cracks
One more tentative step
May be one step too far
Deep down there, a dark and icy grave
We brave it only so far
Back to snowman
Better to build a friend
Make war with snowballs than make a watery end
What it is to be young again
All of us now bright with laughter
Faces glowing, not just with cold
With the joy of it too
Grateful now for this gift of snow
And Christmas Day so nearly here
When the year turns round once more
Ahead of us, the first snowdrop
The lengthening of days and welcome sun
New warmth, new life
Then, the swallows and swifts
Coming home to us at last
All will be well
