Songtexte Potential (Commentary) - Danielle Bradbery

That was "Sway" off Danielle Bradbery's
New album "I Don't Believe We've Met."
We are celebrating the fact that it is finally available, and I wanted
To ask you, um, I was looking at questions from fans on Twitter, and
There was a guy named Brian D'Angelo. He shared a video with us on
Twitter of you singing "Sway," and it was in front of an entire crowd
That was singing this song back to you. And you mentioned in the
Video that it was one of the largest
Crowds that had sung it back to you
Yeah
And you know most of us will never know that feeling of starting
With a blank sheet of paper, writing a song, recording it, and then
Getting on a stage and having everybody sing it back to us. So I
Mean, what is that like when you see your words coming back at you?
God, it's... it's a moment, for sure. Um, and with this new stuff
I was kinda nervous. I'm like, "How long is it gonna take 'em to
Get to know it?" And throwing it way back with "Heart of Dixie."
Mhm
I just, I mean, everything was so fast, and then before I knew it
People were singing along. So it was such a
That was its moment itself. And, and now getting
To actually be a part of writing the song and...
Yeah
...And you're right, starting with a blank piece of paper
And, um, just starting with nothing and then having something
And then going out there and then finally hearing everybody
Sing your piece of art that you are a part of, it's such a
An amazing feeling. And that specific show, it was honestly
The biggest crowd that I first heard everybody singing
Wow
Like, I've, I've seen a couple people sing along, and I thought
That was still even so cool, but I, I stepped back from the
Mic and they all were singing every single word exactly right
The melodies, everything. And I'm like, "This is so cool!"
That is awesome
Yeah
Well, the next song off the album that we wanna talk
About is "Potential," which we talked about a little bit
Yeah
But you know, first of all, you sing the fire out of this song
I mean, it is, this is one that I probably wouldn't join in on
Singing because I'm like, "Holy cow, she's just killing it."
But you know, it's interesting because when I first heard this song
My interpretation was more of a glass half empty kind of feeling
Like, "Unfortunately you're never gonna live up to your potential
" But I heard you talk in an interview and I've also heard other
People talk that you sort of see a glimmer of hope in this guy's
Potential, like he still has an opportunity to live up to it
Yeah!
So I mean, do you kinda feel a little bit of
A possible positivity coming out of this song?
I do
And I, I love trying to find positive in everything
Positivity in everything. And, um, and you know
Sometimes I don't want my songs to come off so sad
Yeah
And I, and I still want people to feel a little bit of hope and a
Little bit of happiness in everything that I, I put out. And so, "
Potential," that's, I mean, that's a knife in the heart type of song
Yeah, it is
But you know, I'm always over here like, "No
There's still hope. It's okay. People can change."
Benefit of the doubt
Benefit of the doubt, yeah. So I, I still am vouching for
That comment that I made. I, I still think there's hope
Alright, well if you are the recipient of
This song, there could be hope for you yet
Yes
It's an amazing song. It's called "Potential"
