Frank Hermans - Bread And Bones Songtexte

Songtexte Bread And Bones - Frank Hermans

Behind the counter, the bread's still warm
Two old hands, weathered by the storm
Present a loaf like it's gold in their palm
In a world gone mad, they try to stay calm
Candy's in the corner, but bitter to taste
Its been there too long, no time to waste
A suitcase packed, ready for the road
But they stand their ground and carry the load
Cracks in the glass, shadows in the light
They're holdin' onto what's left of the fight
Behind those smiles, there are long-lost dreams
In a shop full of ghosts and busted seams
It's bread and bones, that's all we know
Keep your head down, don't let it show
Blood on the floor, but the lights stay on
This shop will still be here when all the rest is gone
Talk about the days when the streets had sound
When the jukebox hit and the earth spun 'round
Now it's just them, and a cold, cold floor
But they ain't leavin', no, they want more
Dust on the shelves, cracks in the walls
But they try to stand tall through it all
The people outside don't care who you are
But in here, they shine like a star
Yeah, bread and bones, from head to toes
That's the way it is, and that's how it goes
They'll keep on goin', come rain or shine
In their cozy place, they drew a line
It's bread and bones, that's all we know
Keep your head down, don't let it show
Blood on the floor, but the lights stay on
This shop will still be here when all the rest is gone
