Songtexte Intro to Shut 'em Down (Live 1983) - Gil Scott-Heron

Thank you very much
As we said-
As I said earlier this evening
No-, not only has, has, has it been a long time
That we've been involved in, in ideas that concern nuclear power
But the world has not noted with little enthusiasm and little interest
The fact that now over, now all of a sudden
All of Europe and all over the world
People are starting to voice their concerns about nuclear power
What we would like to say is that nobody can do everything
But everybody can do something
And if everybody does something, everything will get done
So we want everybody to get involved
We don't care if you want to freeze it, burn it, bury it
Or merely cover it up with something you're not using anymore
Someone-
When I first got involved in nuclear power somebody said:
"Gil, why are you dealing with nuclear power, man, that ain't no black thing"
And I, I had to admit they had a point there
Because see, nuclear power is an equal opportunity destroyer
So whether, no matter what color you go into it with
You will glow in the dark
Green will be your final phosphorescent color
So we don't believe it has anything to do with black and white
We believe it has to do with life and death
So we invite everybody to get involved with life
And say something positive about how to get that shit outta here
We would like to take you into an idea called "Shut 'em Down"
