தினம்பாடும் தென்றல் ஒன்று
பூவாரம் சூடிக்கொண்டு
தலைவாசல் வந்ததின்று

தென் பாண்டி மன்னன் என்று
திருமேனி வண்ணம் கண்டு
மடியேறி வாழும் பெண்மை
படியேறி வந்ததின்று

இளநீரும் பாலும் தேனும்
இதழோரம் வாங்க வேண்டும்
கொடுத்தாலும் காதல் தாபம்
குறையாமல் ஏங்க வேண்டும்

கடல் போன்ற ஆசையில்
மடல் வாழை மேனி தான் ஆட
நடு ஜாம வேளையில்
நெடு நேரம் நெஞ்சமே கூட

கேளாத வேணு கானம்
கிளி பேச்சை கேட்கக் கூடும்

அடியாளின் ஜீவன் மேனி
அதிகாரம் செய்வதென்ன
அலங்கார தேவ தேவி
அவதாரம் செய்ததென்ன

இசை வீணை வாடுதோ
இதமான கைகளில் மீட்ட
ஸ்ருதியோடு சேருமோ
சுகமான ராகமே காட்ட
