Songtexte

She stares at the screen, her daughter words a green
Try to remember what to do next
She traces a frustration across her face
Searching for the key she should press
I would help her if I only knew how
But these things they're a mystery to me too
How they seal the core with green ice they're watching
To live for her job and for little surpassing
I stare at her in time and think to myself
Oh you and I we never asked for any of this
So let's take a walk up past the chemical works
Where the sky turns green at night
We'll talk about getting away from here
From the foreign mine of our heads
But even in the freshest mountain air
All the jet fighters practice overhead
How they treat these air of uranium composite
And bury the waste for our children to inherit
All this is all done for our own benefit
I swear we never asked for any of this
Well this golden age of communication
Means everyone talks at the same time
And liberty just means the freedom to exploit
Any weakness that you can find
I'd turn off the TV just for a while
Let us whisper to each other instead
How we're all being caught through the eyes
Of those who'd find ourselves committing
Some kind of treason
For our own instincts without rhyme without reason
They tell us that it's all for our own protection
I swear we never asked for any of this
I swear we never asked for any of this
I swear we never asked for any of this
