In my youth, liberal politics looked fine
I had stuff I wanted to do not much time
Those staunch old conservatives spent all their time
Making me stop doing things that felt right
Making it a crime

Then I got older times changed all around
I want to keep the Counties healthy make safer towns
All those kids doing stuff to ruin peace of mind
Then conservatism seemed just right at that time

The first wanted freedom
The second did too
The first from laws and judgment
The second destruction from anarchy world view

Liberals say they're ok
Conservative say it's safer to obey
Hey they're both right, yeah they're both right
Both wrong

So my head gets turned around by stuff
Most citizens never get to see
The power that lies in power
What people do behind the scenes
Soon it didn't even matter left or right
Both seemed like ignorant old friends in an innocent fight

Seems like it's not human nature needs laws to bind
But power of a group no matter how small or king sized
It's power in the hands of men with power and women
That dull my senses now even if it keeps
The looters from my door
Keeps the money strong
It's the conflicting needs for friends and
Freedom that gets me now
Keeps me down
